Our Story
History of the Maxville Cemetery
Maxville Cemetery has served as a place of remembrance and peace for the local community since 1826. Over the years, our grounds have become a cherished space for families and visitors to honour loved ones and reflect on the passage of time.
Below is the photo of the original 1824 letter creating the site for a church and our cemetery.
The 1st known burial at our cemetery: Mary (Campbell) McIntyre b. 1763 in Lochaber, Inverness, Scotland – d. March 16, 1826 in Glengarry County, Ontario.
